Massive IoT

5G, the key infrastructure for the digital transformation of economy society, has been widely integrated into various industries in the past four years. However, as 5G application going deeper, the higher cost of 5G terminals brings the challenges for the large-scale deployment of 5G applications. 5G RedCap (Reduced Capability), also was known as “NR Light”, can obtain the advantages of low cost and low power consumption by reducing terminal complexity, fully enabling the mid- and high- speed Internet of Things (IoT) scenarios and further promoting the large-scale deployment of 5G applications. ZTE launched the comprehensive "Basic + Enhanced + Overlay" RedCap solution that can flexibly match the deployment stage and diverse scenarios, helping RedCap evolve from "usable" to "useful".

With new type of RedCap terminals accessing 5G existing commercial networks, access control and user identification need to be performed, and the bandwidth adaption also needs to be considered

5G network resource sharing

As RedCap terminals will completely share the resources of existing 5G network with the regular 5G terminals, it is necessary to consider the compatibility to maximize the utilization of network resources

Specific demands and standards

RedCap will eventually be applied to various industries, and each industry has its own specific demands. The differentiated network capabilities is required to match the RedCap application scenarios
